Voting in the United States
When people vote, they make an important choice. What if your family couldn’t decide on which movie to watch? What could you do? Take a vote to choose a movie! What if your running club needs a new captain? Take a vote to pick someone who’s competent and loves to serve others. As a citizen, voting is very important. Those who are 18 and older vote when it is time to choose new leaders for a community. This could be for the mayor of a city or the governor of a state. Citizens also vote for the president of the United States.
On an election day, citizens go to a special place, such as a library or a school gym to cast their ballot. Inside, there are many voting booths. These booths help people to keep their votes private. Voters select their candidates on a ballot and put the ballot in the ballot box. Some voting booths have special computers instead of ballot boxes. After all the votes have been counted, a new leader is elected.
Thanks for another timely post. Imaging what elections would be like when people can vote online. It will be a paradigm shift.
